Sagrada Familia

The Sagrada Familia, whose full name is Basilica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família, is an impressive church in Barcelona, Spain, considered the masterpiece of architect Antoni Gaudí.This expiatory temple, still under construction since 1882, has become an undisputed symbol of the city and an outstanding example of Catalan modernist architecture.

Gaudí took on the project in 1883, transforming the original neo-Gothic design into an innovative fusion of Gothic, Art Nouveau and Modernist styles, characterised by its organic forms and intricate religious symbolism. He devoted much of his life to this work, until his death in 1926.Despite being unfinished, the basilica was consecrated by Pope Benedict XVI in 2010 and elevated to a minor basilica.

The Sagrada Familia stands out for its three monumental façades: the Nativity Façade, the Passion Façade and the Glory Façade, each representing key moments in the life of Jesus Christ.
