Playa Sur

Playa Sur is one of the two main beaches of Cabo Polonio, a seaside resort and national park in the department of Rocha, Uruguay. It is characterized by its landscape of dunes, rocks and sea, offering a natural and isolated environment ideal for disconnection.It is the entry and exit point for 4x4 trucks that transport visitors to the National Park, crossing the dunes.

During the summer months, Playa Sur has a lifeguard service and a hostel where you can enjoy drinks and meals. It's a popular spot for surfing, with waves that vary depending on wind conditions.In addition, it is known for its spectacular sunsets, which invite contemplation.

From Playa Sur you can take a walk to the Cabo Polonio Lighthouse, from where you can see an important reserve of sea lions, the Atlantic Ocean and the "Isla de Torres" archipelago.It is also possible to walk southwest, in the direction of Oceania del Polonio, for an experience of connection with nature.

Cabo Polonio is distinguished by its rustic and bohemian atmosphere, without connection to the electricity grid or running water in most of its homes, which contributes to a unique travel experience and immersion in nature.
