
Puerta del Polonio is the main access point and service center for visitors heading to Cabo Polonio National Park in Rocha, Uruguay.Opened in 2012, this resort was designed to centralize service offerings and manage the flow of tourists to this unique destination, known for its natural beauty and unconnected lifestyle.
The resort offers a variety of essential amenities, including a ticket office to purchase off-road vehicle tickets that traverse the dunes, ample parking, toilets, covered and semi-covered waiting areas, cafeteria, and snack bar.In addition, it offers the sale of typical products and handicrafts, as well as tourist information about Cabo Polonio and the department of Rocha.
Puerta del Polonio also houses an interpretation room dedicated to the natural and cultural resources of the region, promoting an attitude of respect and environmental care, given that Cabo Polonio is a Natural Protected Area.This space seeks to enrich the visit to the National Park, facilitating a greater understanding of its value and orienting the visitor towards low-impact tourism.
To enter Cabo Polonio this is the only motorized route, it can also be done for free by means of a walk on the beach and dunes of 8 km from Balizas until you reach Cabo Polonio

These times are from Sunday to Sunday, including holidays, except for detailed exceptions.
Access to Cabo Polonio is made exclusively through all-terrain vehicles that depart from Puerta del Polonio, since private cars are not allowed to enter the National Park. Round-trip tickets cost $470 Uruguayan pesos per person (may vary ), and are free for children under 5. The trip takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes.It can be paid in cash (Uruguayan pesos, reais, euros or dollars) or with debit cards. Parking services for cars, motorhomes, motorcycles and bicycles are also offered at daily costs. Tents and pets are prohibited from entering the Cabo Polonio National Park.
