About Asador Portuetxe
During my short stay in San Sebastian, just 2 and a half days, the first destination was Asador Portuetxe. As is the case throughout San Sebastian, the kitchen closes soon , 11:30 pm to be exact, something that takes a little longer in Madrid. It places you perfectly where you are: in the Basque Country. Floor, ceiling... For me everything is very successful except the environment, since it is a restaurant located in a polygon away from the urban center, somewhat disconnected. In Carta you can whet your appetite with starters ranging between €10 and €20 mostly. Subsequently, the Seafood section, another Fish section (the largest) and another Meat section where they are not complicated and only work with Cow Txuleta, of which I do not know its maturation. In terms of price, €50 per kg.For the quality it has, I thought it was excellent.
1- Fried Piparras 🌶 [€12]: Grilled chilli peppers that we ask for to make the wait for the seconds more enjoyable.
2- turbot 🐟 [€75 Kg]: 1.4 Kg piece that I had no choice but to order in this Restaurant after your suggestions. I congratulate you for the recommendation because it is brutal. The suuuupertierno fish and the sauce to take the bread crumb 🥖 and fulminate it on the tray.)
3- Cow Chop [50€ Kg]: Trigger for the visit. For residents of San Sebastian or frequent visitors, Portuetxe is one of the steakhouses where they serve the best meat, which would be a Pelotari in Madrid. I can't compare because I've only been there 3 days, but I'm very satisfied with the meat they work with. I can not praise its preparation, the meat is well prepared on the grill, but with the salt 3 villages were passed. The pieces have to be salted after passing through the embers to be absorbed.
