About Casa Marcelo
In the heart of Santiago de Compostela, where pilgrims end the Camino, there is a Galician restaurant that claims to be the inventor of the tasting menu: Casa Marcelo, one of the most recommended in the city.It has a Michelin star and eating here is an adventure, because the menu is secret and costs €125 for 8 courses.
Work with a tasting menu in which you choose the number of passes (for example, four or eight) and the chef presents a surprise itinerary that mixes Galician product with influences from Japan, Peru or Mexico.Combine seafood and fish from the estuary with techniques inspired by Asian and South American cuisine: oyster with pepper sauce, sea bass with yellow chili, prawn dim sum (har gao) or grilled sardines in creative versions.
It is in a traditional building on Rúa das Hortas, a few steps from the historic centre and the Cathedral, with a compact dining room, open kitchen and bar and high tables that favour proximity to the chefs, in an informal-gastronomic atmosphere.A comfortable proposition if you are looking for creative dishes near the Cathedral.
Tips
Book in advance: it is very close to the Cathedral and is usually full.
